England allrounder Ben Stokes has been suspended from international cricket until further notice after his altercation outside a Bristol nightclub.

The England and Wales Cricket Board say both Stokes and Alex Hales who was also involved in the incident remain on full pay pending further investigation.

Stokes was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and then released without charge under investigation and Hales was with him at the time of the incident.

The decision was made following the emergence of vision from The Sun newspaper of the brawl between Stokes and two others.

It now places Stokes' Ashes hopes in further jeopardy, if the suspension is not lifted before the side leave in late October.
