Auckland Rugby League have a message for the next line of potential buyers of the Warriors.

The ARL through the Carlaw Park Trust have withdrawn from due diligence around purchasing the Mount Smart Club, after failing to come to terms with the franchise and current owner Eric Watson.

The revelation comes after the ARL reportedly agreed on an asking price with current owner Eric Watson three weeks ago.

Chairman Cameron McGregor is unable to delve into the reasoning for the withdrawal, but said the result is very disappointing.

"Carlaw Heritage Trust has withdrawn from due diligence so the contract is at an end and the reason being, was quite simply that we couldn't agree terms with the Warriors.

"It wasn't what we were hoping for, that's for sure. The point is, anyone who wants to buy the Warriors is going to need to come and talk to us because we are very much an important part of long-term success for the Warriors."

However, the ARL is keeping the door open around the slim possibility of still purchasing the Warriors.

"We've indicated to the Warriors that we are open to negotiating at any stage with them," McGregor said.
