A warning that provincial New Zealand could soon feel the full impact of the conflict between Russia and the Ukraine.

New Zealand First is calling on the Government to use its newly acquired seat on the UN Security Council, to make seeking a resolution to the eastern European crisis a serious priority.

Leader Winston Peters says the fact the impasse involves nations on the other side of the world, doesn't mean we should ignore it.

"It is miles away from New Zealand, but in this case there is a profound effect and it's already being felt in New Zealand's provincial markets."

Winston Peters says the conflict has impacted dairy prices and will soon affect beef exports.
