Northland MP Winston Peters is downplaying his role in trying to reunite the factions of Ngapuhi.
The 12-hapu collective invited him to take part in the long-standing dispute over who should represent them for Treaty of Waitangi settlement negotiations with the Crown.
Mr Peters took up that offer today, but is tight-lipped on whether any solutions were found.
"Is it resolvable? Well of course, we've got to have the right approach and it's starts with listening and that's what I intend to do."
Mr Peters acknowledges the issues approached today are difficult to tackle.
"Other Iwi settlements have been concluded. In this case a serious road block has happened. It's complex but it's not irresolvable in that context."
