The UN Committee against Torture is worried about the number of Maori in prison.
It's just issued a report welcoming recent changes to the law, but says there's still a lot we can do.
It's made 13 recommendations, including the need to stop using solitary confinement for mental health patients.
The Committee is also critical over what it says is a lack of funding and autonomy for the Independent Police Conduct Authority, violence against women and children, and the failure to incorporate human rights into legislation.
