Mr English is hinting of a pending development.

Ditching Todd Barclay against his wishes could prove difficult for National.
According to the party's rules Mr Barclay's own electorate executive would have to seek approval from National's board for his nomination endorsement to be revoked.
If approved, Mr Barclay would have to be given the chance to state his case at a Party board meeting - a majority decision could see his nomination reversed.
However, such process a could be legally challenged and with candidate nominations having to be finalised by the 23rd of August, the timeframe is tight for the issue to be resolved.
