People don't know who he is, so National's new Clutha-Southland candidate has a plan to put boots to the ground over the next five weeks.
Hamish Walker had his first campaign meeting around 10:30 last night, less than an hour after he was selected by local National Party Members.
The 32-year-old business advisor is based near Balclutha and says this is an opportunity to continue his family legacy.
Walker says his grandfather started the Young Nats in the 1940s and ran campaigns for Ralph Hanan, so the National Party's been in his blood since he was a young man.
The police investigation into departing Clutha Southland MP Todd Barclay continues.
