Police have been ordered to disclose a substantial amount of evidence to Dirty Politics author Nicky Hager, ahead of a judicial review of their raid on his house.

The investigative journalist is challenging the legality of a 10-hour search of his house in October, after blogger Cameron Slater laid a police complaint over the theft of his emails.

A judge has agreed Mr Hager should have access to documents that relate to the search warrant, although some confidential information will be limited to his lawyers only.

Nicky Hager says the information seized by police is protected by journalistic privilege.
