A big pay rise is on the cards when MFAT's departing chief executive takes up his new job at the New Zealand Racing Board.
John Allen's resignation was leaked today ahead of the official announcement planned for next week.
He leaves the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade after five years.
His new job at the Racing Board comes with a pay packet of more than 960,000 dollars - an increase of more than 300,000 dollars on his MFAT salary.
