Political party donation returns reveal the National Party collected the most from donors in the build up to the election campaign.
Just published figures show the party raked in around $3.9 million.

In comparison Labour received around $940,000, the Greens $970,000, ACT $726,000, and New Zealand First $132,000.
New Zealand First's biggest donors were their MPs Tracey Martin and Darroch Ball, who each gave almost $19,000.
Two of the election's most unsuccessful political parties also had some of the highest donations.
Just two donors are listed for the Conservative party in its election year donation returns. They polled just under 4% on election day but received just under $3 million in donations last year.
Over $1.6 million came from party leader Colin Craig, and another $1.3 million from party supporters Laurence and Katrina Day.
The declarations also reveal Mr Craig made a loan of over $300,000 to his party at an 8% interest rate
The Internet Party, who joined with Hone Harawira's MANA Party, raised $3.5 million - all from founder Kim Dotcom
