UPDATED 9.16am:Â The architect of Labour's policies, rejected at the election last month, says he agreed with all of them.
Leadership hopeful David Parker told the first of 14 leadership meetings in Wellington last night, that Labour has to learn how to sell them.
Mr Parker told a crowd of several hundred that Labour has to speak with one voice.
"If we can agree a unity of purpose then we will get strength and confidence from it and success will breed success and people will come back to us."
Nanaia Mahuta told the crowd of several hundred that Labour has to better understand what Kiwis want.
"New Zealanders by and large are fair. We champion the No.8 wire mentality.
"We know that in order for things to be better for our neighbour, we have to be a country that upholds the things where we can all benefit."
And Andrew Little was the final speaker.
"I cannot tolerate injustice in the sense of the powerful taking advantage of the weak.
"We all know it when we see it. When I see it, it sticks in my craw and I'm not prepared to tolerate it."
