The Education Minister Hekia Parata claims she's still prepared to change her mind over the closure of Redcliffs School.

Parata had announced an interim decision to close the school next year, citing the threat of a rockfall from the cliffs behind the school as the main reason.

Parata said she's required by law to provide another 28 days for the community to give any final and fresh information which hasn't yet been considered.

"Given the complexity, given the community concerns and interests which I respect, I have extended that period to the middle of March," she said.
