Just three days out from the election, Labour is confident the people of Ohariu are ready for change.

United Future leader Peter Dunne has held the Ohariu seat for 30 years, the first 10 of those years for Labour.

What was once a majority of more than 12,000 ,has slipped to around 1000 in the past two elections.

Labour candidate Virginia Andersen says it's time for something new.

"It's pretty clear that when you've got determination and when you've got your heart in the right place that people can see that and that's the feeling, that it's time for a change here."

But Peter Dunne says running against first-time opposition will restore his popularity this election.

"I think the nature of the contest this time has been different. for the last two elections I've had three sitting MPs opposing me, this time a raft of new candidates."
