Labour's looking to bring back the controversial euthanasia Bill, with Iain Lees-Galloway spearheading the push.
The Palmerston North MP believes in people's right to have control over their own lives.
He's judging the level of support for the Bill.
Mr Lees-Galloway says if he puts it in the ballot and it's drawn, he hopes MPs will be happy to support it to go to the Select Committee.
"That's the place where the public really can have their say. Parliament have the resources to make sure that all the information and evidence and the overseas experience is properly considered."
Mr Lees-Galloway says it's important there's an objective and considered debate on the issue.
