Labour's defence spokesman is urging the Government against rushing into join the fight against ISIS.

Involvement in fighting in the Middle East looks increasingly likely, though the exact nature of it is unclear.

Phil Goff says it's easy to make emotive decisions when you see the atrocities being committed, but it needs to be well thought through.

"And I think, 'yeah wouldn't it be great to go in there and clear these bastards out', but we've got to take a deep breath and say if it was that easy.

"It's a little bit like the 1st World War, 'yeah the troops will be home by Christmas'. Obama has already said this will be a long drawn out conflict."
