Labour MP and mayoral candidate Goff wants a bigger infrastructure fund, the ability to develop infrastructure bonds, and a government that looks at the demand side of the housing crisis.
He says if growth in Auckland increases by 45,000 people like last year, and the city doesn't have the housing and transport infrastructure to cope, then he expects central government to step up.
Goff expects the government to ease the tap down a little on the level of growth that Auckland is encountering or come to the party with the funds needed to cope with that growth.
