Additional Government funding's being set aside to help reintegrate Kiwi offenders deported from Australia.
Corrections Minister Judith Collins said $100 thousand will be given to prisoner support group PARS for its work in helping offenders reintegrate and live crime-free.
Ms Collins said the workload for the group has been increasing with the number of ex-prisoners being deported from Australia.
“PARS needs some extra money and corrections decided the best thing to do is to give PARS another $100 thousand grant to help them with the reintegration of prisoners.”
The Minister also said there may be a need for further funding down the track if the number of deportees continue at the level they are now.
“If PARS needs it then obviously we are going to help them as good as we can, because I think they do a good job.”
