After just a few weeks as an MP, Marama Fox is set to take the Maori Party's co-leadership today.
She's the only nominee for the female co-leader role to succeed Tariana Turia.
Ms Fox admits it's a big step up.
"I don't want to fill her shoes, I think I need to fill my own shoes, but certainly I'll be absolutely grateful for any advice, for her mentorship, for her support as I move into the future."
Te Ururoa Flavell is set to be reconfirmed as the other co-leader at the same time, when party members vote at their AGM today.
Taurima offers advise to Maori PartyÂ
The man who left TVNZ over controversy about his links with Labour has offered a little advice to the Maori Party.
Shane Taurima was on a panel at the party's AGM today, telling members they need to consider cutting deals to have any hope of beating Labour in the Maori seats again.
He said they also need to face up to their worst election result ever, and look at why Maori went back to Labour - when other voters deserted Labour in droves.
Mr Taurima said it had to be the Maori Party's arrangement with National, saying it was their Achilles' heel.
He said he wasn't advocating deals, but they should be considered.
