While most MPs remain on holiday, the new Maori Development Minister is hitting the road - meeting Maori around the country at a series of public meetings.
Te Ururoa Flavell will hold his first hui of the year in Christchurch this morning.
He began the meetings late last year and says it's important he gets to every spot he can.
"I've sort-of asked people not to provide too many issues, but more provide the solutions, and generally people are talking about employment opportunities, that seems to be the biggest, and things to do with Maori language, Maori land and so on."
Te Ururoa Flavell will hold hui in Dunedin and Invercargill later this week.
