The Prime Minister has indicated changes to the superannuation system might be on the table.
The scheme is currently available to everyone over the age of 65.
Bill English told TV3's The Nation he's more flexible to changing the system than his predecessor John Key.
Mr Key had previously said he would resign before changing rules around the eligibility for superannuation.
Mr English said there is an opportunity for a "reset" to the scheme, but wouldn't provide details on what that might look like. He said the party would tell voters what its plan was before this year's general election.
Labour leader Andrew Little said the Prime Minister needs to come clean about his intentions around superannuation after Mr English evaded a direct question around whether he is considering raising the entitlement age of 65.
He said Bill English's comments could send alarm bells ringing in the households of many hard-working Kiwis.
