UPDATED 12.28pm: David Seymour's End of Life Choice Bill will be introduced to the Members Bill ballot today.

LISTEN ABOVE: Annette King and Steven Joyce join Mike Hosking to discuss their thoughts on David Seymour introducing this ' End of Life Choice Bill.'

The ACT leader's bill details legislation to legalise voluntary euthanasia.

Mr Seymour said too many New Zealanders want the bill, so parliament must confront the issue.

He believes the bill is clear and doesn't force anyone to do anything they don't want to.

"I believe the bill that I'm submitting is a very clear one, it has very clearly defined protections and safeguards so that nobody is forced to take a role under this act."

For MPs to vote on the bill, it must first be randomly selected from 71 others in the members bill ballot.

On the same day a bill is put into the ballot to legalise voluntary euthanasia, Parliament is being asked to hold an inquiry on the issue.

The Voluntary Euthanasia Society and former Labour MP Maryan Street has presented the petition to the Health Select Committee.

Ms Street said when she talks to supporters, there's one clear message.

"Having been self-determining autonomous adults in their lifetime, they would like to be self-determining autonomous adults at their end time."
