Updated 4.52PM: Whale Oil blogger Cameron Slater says someone needs to tell Colin Craig he's dreaming.

That's been his response on Twitter following the announcement from the former Conservative Party leader that he's suing three people, Mr Slater included, and seeking compensation of $1.5 million.

Mr Craig is taking defamation action against three people and seeking damages from them: $300,000 from Taxpayers Union co-founder Jordan Williams, $600,000 from former Conservative Party board member John Stringer, and $650,000 from controversial Whaleoil blogger Cameron Slater.

He's calling the three the 'Dirty Politics Brigade' claiming they've been plotting against him.

On his blog, Cam Slater says he needs to see the paperwork first.

He said if this does turn out to be more than the typical Colin Craig bluster, he suspects he's going to be in for a very rough ride - now that he's forcing him to pull his life apart bit by bit inside a court room.

Craig released a pamphlet outlining what he says has been campaign being waged against him by the people identified in Nicky Hager's explosive Dirty Politics book prior to last year's election. 

"Is it Colin Craig telling the truth," he asked, "or is it the Dirty Politics brigade? Let the courts judge this matter so that we know who we can trust."

Craig resigned as leader last month, following allegations he sexually harassed his former press secretary.

His wife Helen is behind him all the way.

Helen Craig said she's sick of media commentators saying she is forced to speak for her husband, because she most definitely is not.

"We have good women in this country, and a good woman knows how to stand by her man when he is under attack."

The majority of the party's board resigned after Craig stood down.
