UPDATED 5.20pm: Everyone's a winner under the Government's long term vision for land transport.

That's according to the Transport Minister, who today announced a $38.7 billion investment programme as part of the Government Policy Statement on Land Transport.

Simon Bridges described many areas as winners in the freshly unveiled package, including cycling, public transport and the regions.

There will be more money for the regions' roads under an almost $40 billion investment programme.

Simon Bridges has today announced the latest Government Policy Statement on Land Transport.

He's outlined plans to increase funding year on year for regional networks, as well as unveiling a $212 million fund for significant projects.

"To ensure that the regions don't feel left out and they know that where there are strong projects that reduce congestion and contribute to economic growth, we want to do them."

The statement comes into force in June next year.
