The main campaigner for a change to animal testing laws is thrilled the ban on cosmetics testing is going ahead.

Green MP Mojo Mathers has been pushing for the ban for more than a year.

National's putting forward a slightly different bill to the one she sponsored, but Ms Mathers isn't worried.

"What mattered is that there's a ban happening. That's what matters, and that's what's in place now."

Ms Mathers says there's no devil in the detail.

"There are different ways of achieving the same outcome. What happens is what will happen in practice."
