He did some good, but Amnesty International says the late Saudi king wasn't a hero of human rights.
Flags are at half-mast around New Zealand today as our Government honours the life of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
Amnesty International spokesperson Margaret Taylor says it's important we also remember the abuses under his reign.
"All of the country's prominent human rights activists have either been jailed or fled the country," she says.
Taylor says our Government needs to push Saudi Arabia for human rights reform.
