The woman who was trapped between two rocks at a Northland beach has been freed with only minor injuries.

Emergency services were called about 6.40 this evening after reports the woman had slipped, fallen and become wedged between two rocks at Motutara Point, Whananaki.

Firefighters freed the woman, who was then flown to Whangarei Base Hospital by the Northland Rescue helicopter about 8.30pm.
