A woman drove for 7 kilometres yesterday, ignoring the flashing lights and siren of a police car behind her because she thought they were "chasing robbers".
The 30-year-old woman has now been charged with dangerous driving, and failing to stop.
Police were called after she was seen crossing the centre line several times as she drove through Kawarau Gorge around 5pm.
When she did eventually pull over she told police she hadn't stopped because she thought they must be chasing a robber, and not her.
