There is another bone-chilling wintry blast set to hit the country over the next few days.
Snow is forecast to fall in the South island later today before the big chill creeps up the country.
Over the next few days, it has been that forecast daylight hours in Wellington will not see temperatures pushed above 7 degrees, and Auckland will dip to 5 degrees overnight.
MetService forecaster Rebekah LaBar said the cold front will bring icy winds and rain.
She said it will not be quite as bad as the last cold snap but warns it will have bite.
