Wellington's winds proved too much for a temporary ice hockey rink.
The international ice hockey game between Team Canada and Team USA at Westpac Stadium was initially scheduled for last night.
It was delayed and then postponed until this afternoon after a pipe containing an agent to make the ice freeze burst.
Now the game has been canned due to health and safety concerns related to the wind.
One fan leaving the stadium says the temporary fencing on the rink fell.
He says they were waiting for the game to start and the walls just fell down.
Westpac Stadium apologised to ticket holders and says refunds will be available.
