Tensions are rising between Wellington's regional council and bus drivers.

The transport provider for the region's bus contract has changed, leaving drivers fearing for their jobs.

Greater Wellington Regional Council chair Chris Laidlaw has given his word to sit down with them and stakeholders to have a facilitated discussion.

Bus driver Daniel Scotford said he's angry that drivers have been "kept in the dark" throughout the process so far.

"It doesn't feel good that we continually hear that they're going to be talking about our terms and conditions without our input."

Mr Scotford said they've been left out of the loop so far, so he'll be taking that promise to be kept involved very seriously.

"We will absolutely hold him to that, we will hold him to that. We are deadly serious about getting our wages and conditions met."
