It appears a pickemup's on the way for Christchurch's hospitality industry.

Uber's gearing up to offer it's food delivery service UberEats in the city, after issuing several job advertisements for wanted drivers.

Canterbury Hospitality Association President Peter Morrison said traffic's not normally a barrier for people wanting to eat out in Christchurch, the way it is in other New Zealand cities.

He said UberEats will make more of a difference for Christchurch residents who find it too cold to get out the door.

"Some people they just don't want top go out, especially if it's a wet, rainy night."

Morrison said he's heard good reports from restaurants offering UberEats in other cities, so he's welcoming the service.

"Well a lot of people like the food from our members restaurants so it's another added bonus of being able to sell more food."

UberEats is already offered in Wellington and Auckland.
