Three pedestrians including two teenagers have been killed in five separate fatal crashes this ANZAC Holiday weekend.
The deadly crashes, which claimed six lives, happened in Mercer, New Plymouth and Rotorua, with another two in Whakatane.
Police assistant commissioner Dave Cliff told NZME initial investigations suggest alcohol and speed - and in one case a person not wearing a seatbelt - were factors in the fatal crashes.
