Decisions appear imminent on the future of the state-owned mining company Solid Energy.
The Prime Minister has described its position as precarious and financial discussions regarding its future as being at a delicate stage.
John Key says liquidation is not the Government's favoured option, and is against the SOE getting a government guarantee.
He's indicating an announcement could be made in the next few weeks.
"We're not planning to put in more capital at this point, it depends on your definition of support. I don't think financial support, but support can also be in other forms or other ways, and we're working our way through that."
