UPDATED 8.48am: A seven-year-old schoolboy reported missing overnight in Hamilton has been found.

William Thompson arrived safe and well at school at around 8.15 this morning.

Family expected him home about 2.30pm but became concerned when he didn't arrive home. A search kicked off after family contacted police at 10.15pm.

“A series of door to door knocks, checks with friends and interviews of staff at his school were conducted but to no avail," Sergeant Ruddell said.

William's family are with the boy at Fairfield Primary school this morning.
