A search and rescue operation is continuing for a missing glider near Omarama in the Mackenzie Basin.
The glider was self-launched using a small motor at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon and was reported missing by Omarama Gliding at 8.20 last night.
An air search was started last night before sunset.
Six aircraft have been searching the area this morning between Mt Cook and Roxburgh, in a 120 kilometre radius circle around Omarama.
A paramedic helicopter and an alpine cliff rescue helicopter are on stand-by for when the glider is found.
