Drivers across the country are being urged to take extra over the next few weeks as children return to school.
Police will be strictly enforcing speed limits around school zones.
Acting National Road Policing Manager Inspector Pete McKennie says children will be unpredictable in the first few weeks while they settle into routine.
"They'll do things that are unexpected and drivers need to take care and travel at speeds where they're going slow enough to be able to stop and avoid a collision with a child who might dart out in front of them."
