Rotorua's economy is booming.

Its GDP has grown by 4.3 percent in the last quarter, the biggest growth in the country.

Added to that house sales are up 52 percent on this time last year.

Rotorua Chamber of Commerce CEO Darrin Walsh said it's fantastic, tourism numbers are skyrocketing and on the back of that so is retail spending.

He said business confidence is going up and the housing market has started to move and it continuing to move.

"Rotorua is on a high at the moment and long may it continue."
