The human remains found on Farewell Spit have been identified as missing tramper Ken Boogers.

The 26-year-old Dutch tourist was last seen over a month ago, on a track near Golden Bay.

A large search and rescue operation failed to find any trace of him until human remains were found by a member of the public last month.

Arrangement have been made to repatriate the body back to The Netherlands.
