We will not give up.
That's from Redcliffs School Board of Trustees in Christchurch in the wake of the Education Minister's interim ruling to close the school.
MORE: Parata announces Redcliffs to close
Staff, students and parents were devastated to hear Hekia Parata refused to listen to almost 3000 submissions in favour of staying open.
She's cited the possible risk of rockfall as the major reason behind the unpopular decision.
Board of Trustees chairman Mark Robberds said they'll do all they can to fight.
He said there are other options such as moving the site forward, but thinks it's sad another school's been taken off the network.
Hekia Parata said she has a number of concerns about the school site.
"Experts have said it is unstable and there are likely to be falls but no one is able to say how often, how big and what that might mean. There is currently no agency monitoring the stability of the cliff."
Redcliffs Principal Kim Alexander said parents are shocked.
"Many of them invest a lot of time into working hard to convince the Minister that they were confident that the site was very safe - they wanted a school in Redcliffs, and they feel like the minister has not listened to them."
The school has until March to respond.
