The Social Development Minister has revealed more details about the funding sought by counselling service provider Relationships Aotearoa before it was liquidated by the government.

Minister Anne Tolley is confident that new arrangements with alternative providers won't be a more expensive option.
She claims Relationships Aotearoa was asking for $200,000 a week extra for 12 weeks, and that didn't address its $1.5 million deficit.
Tolley doesn't think the new arrangements will cost as much as that.
Relationships Aotearoa provided counselling to around 60,000 people a year with a staff of 120. The organisation had 7000 clients involving CYFS, mental health, courts and police.
The organisation's contracts to provide free earthquake trauma counselling in the Canterbury region were cancelled. Clients no longer received services from early this week.
