UPDATED 1.08pm:Â Police are working to confirm whether a fifth fatal crash over the weekend counts toward the Queen's Birthday road toll.
Two people have been killed in Canterbury, one in Te Puke and another near Auckland.
Canterbury Police search and rescue have also found the body of a man, and his vehicle, reported missing last night.
The man's four wheel drive was discovered down a bank and his body was found nearby.
But a police spokeswoman says they can't confirm if the crash would count toward the road toll, as they have to confirm the status of the road with the Transport Agency.
The toll started at 4pm on Friday and ends at 6am tomorrow.
