There is a push to get more electric car charging stations up and running in Wellington to quash range anxiety.
Three stations were unveiled at Zealandia this week.
Transport and Urban Development Committee chair Andy Foster said it's the first stage in a roll out of a number of electric vehicle charging stations in the city.
Foster said the council has identified about 100 other suitable locations in the region.
"This is the first stage in the roll out of what will be a number of electric vehicle charging stations around the city."
"There are already a couple there, but we are looking to part with a number of different organisations to put in place several more."
He said it's also a move to ease a phenomenon known as range anxiety.
"People who own electric vehicles can feel confident that when they are away from home, they can find a place to charge up, because range anxiety is an issue."
