Pukekohe locals are keeping up their campaign against a proposed egg farm in their neighbourhood.

Craddock Farms had its resource consent declined, for a 310-thousand chicken farm near the south Auckland town.

The company is heading to the Environment Court this morning to appeal the decision.

Stop Craddock Farms spokeswoman Deirdre Sims said locals will be protesting outside the court to express their concerns.

"Animal welfare, environmental degradation - the farm will stink and its going to be right in the heart of the town."

The company said it's made some changes to its plan for accommodating 310,000 chickens.

Sims said those changes won't make the farm humane.

"They've come up with a plan that will see up to a 120 smoke stacks - we don't want the farm regardless."

The farm could produce a tenth of the country's egg supply.
