Public submissions over Environment Canterbury's future governance are underway.
Over 40 submitters from across the region will make themselves heard to the Local Government and Environment Select Committee sitting in Christchurch today.
The committee will hear from local councils, local MPs, Federated Farmers and the Law Society.
The government's proposal of six appointed commissioners and seven elected has been met with strong opposition.
Labour's Canterbury spokeswoman Megan Woods believes the whole ECAN saga's been undemocratic, with the government refusing to listen to the public.
She said it's people's last chance to be heard, and it's important the right decision is made as Canterbury rebuilds.
