Updated 10.51pm: Around 50 protestors are expected at a rally against Marlborough's Waihopai spy base this morning.

They'll march through Blenheim to local National MP Stuart Smith's office, and then set up a picket outside the base itself.

Campaign spokesman Murray Horton says it's a fight against the base and all it stands for.

"What we want to gain is the closure of the Waihopai Spy Base. We've been running this for a long time now, ever since it was built, and the demands have not changed."

Murray Horton says it's also about New Zealand's relationship with America.

"We're having John Key himself in the form of a giant puppet head and Uncle Sam will be hand in hand through the streets of Blenheim, and they may or may not have a game of golf as Obama and Key did last year."
