Post mortems will be carried out today on two bodies recovered from the Mamaku Forest.
They are believed to be those of Raymond and James Fleet the uncle and nephew who went missing more than a week ago.
Police Area Commander Anaru Pewhairangi has not ruled out a possible gang link to their disappearance.
He said it is a tragedy, and says locals should contact police if they have any concerns.
James Fleet was last seen about 6.30pm on August 7 when he left his grandmother's house, where he was living. His uncle went missing about the same time.
They were both found dead in the Mamaku Forest on Thursday.
