Police are trying to trace the movements of a south Auckland man who's died after being admitted to hospital last week.

They say Tametame Wiremu died after having been admitted to Auckland Hospital last Tuesday afternoon.

Mr Wiremu was 68 years old of Manurewa and was also known as Tommy Wiremu.

Police are looking into his movements in the city between 9am and 1pm that Tuesday.

They would like to hear from anybody who may have seen him in the vicinity of the Auckland Transport carpark on Victoria Street or on Lorne Street, Victoria Street, High Street and Queen Street.

He was of solid build, in his late 60s, had a shaved head and long white beard.
