Two police officers injured during an arrest in Christchurch last night aren't expected to require further medical attention.

A 29-year-old man is facing multiple charges after the two officers suffered head injuries.

Police say they were in the process of arresting the man, suspected of being involved in a domestic violence incident in North New Brighton.

The arrest was being made at the Palms Shopping Centre car park.

The man had fled there from a North New Brighton address.

He faces multiple charges relating to the domestic incident and injuring the officers.
