Families of the miners killed at Pike River are questioning Solid Energy's good faith over plans to go back inside the mine.
A statement from their lawyer details the families' hope for a positive decision from the state-owned mining firm.
Nicholas Davidson QC says the families are hoping Solid Energy's board will consider their proposal carefully this coming week.
But he says they have real concerns as to whether a decision is, in truth, still to be made.
The release accuses Solid Energy of 'shutting the door' on families in the middle of this year, and not providing information on advice it's using to make its decisions.
The families say re-entry remains a remnant of hope, and that it hangs by a thread.
