Joseph Parker is praising the calm head of his coach for a first round knockout win in Invercargill.

The Kiwi boxer's knocked Tupou out with a right hook to the top of the head within the first minute of the first round to extend his winning streak to 15 and 0.

Parker says it was always a possibility the bout could've ended that quickly with Tupou's super aggressive style.

"I got height and reach on him so I knew he was going to come on strong, but we were prepared for it."

Tupou was recklessly aggressive from the moment the bell went and Parker says if it wasn't for Kevin Barry it could've been a different result.

"So when I heard him screaming in the corner for me to calm down and box, don't get into a brawl, I just moved to the side and planted my feet."

"When I saw the opportunity I threw the right which landed on the temple."

"Kevin was right - he was going to come for it. He wasn't just going to sit around and box me."

Parker's next fight will be in Auckland on October the 15th, with promoters Duco to name his opponent on Tuesday.
